Kevin Cheung is a Pastoral Worker of Newcastle Chinese Methodist Church. He received his BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in 2003. He was a Research Assistant at CityU and performed a quantity surveying role in two construction companies in Hong Kong before he headed to the United Kingdom. He joined Babcock Rail as a Quantity Surveyor and subsequently joined EC Harris as the same role in 2006. He became a Chartered Surveyor in 2008 and was appointed as a Commercial Manager at Network Rail in 2009.
Kevin has been a committed Christian since 1993. He responded to God’s calling and resigned the post at Network Rail in 2011 to receive theological training for his future ministry. He obtained his Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from the Global Chinese Bible Institute in 2014. He had been actively serving in the Bradford Chinese Christian Church (BCCC) for 12 years. He was a Pastoral Worker (part-time) at BCCC. He was also a member of the preaching team, Sunday service worship leader, Sunday school teacher teaching children aged 6-8, leading the Cantonese bible studies bimonthly, and involved in other administrative tasks such as arranging the Sunday service rota, and maintaining church web site. Previously, he was elected to serve in the Church Council in 2005-2007 and 2011-2015.
Kevin can preach fluently in both Cantonese and English. He is also invited to preach in other Christian churches, for example, a local English church in Bradford called Beacon Community Church, and Chinese churches in Durham and Middlesbrough.
Kevin is a father of two and he likes drama, photography and visual arts. There are so many things that he cannot understand (including the love of God), and this is one of them – he has not received any formal qualifications in computing but his family and friends keep asking him questions on how to resolve their computer problems when they are not functioning as they should be!
